Week in review...

Well, what a week this has been...starting with Valentine's Day...

Valentine's Day used to be the type of holiday where it mattered where you went to dinner and how many roses your man gave you.  Well this year was very different.  I woke up in the morning with my amazing husband, Raj by my side and my dog, Tyler snuggled up under the covers.  Neil woke up with the biggest smile ever and it got bigger when he saw me.  And Priya ran across the hallway and into my arms and said "good morning mommy, I love you!".  That was the beginning to a great day that wasn't about where I was being taken for dinner or how many flowers I got, but rather about being with my kids and my husband.  After the kids went to bed, Raj and I had a glass of wine, watched a movie and ate chocolate chip cookies.  I couldn't have asked for a better end to a great day.  Happy Valentine's Day everyone!

Oh, and here is a picture of Priya with the flowers and teddy bear she got from her Nana.

Well, after a great start to the week, things didn't go down hill, but dealing with a teething 4 months isn't all roses and wine.  Neil has been teething for what feels like an eternity, but really only about 4 weeks.  Nothing seems to make him feel better and I've tried everything - teething tablets, teethers, Tylenol, etc.  He does spend a lot of the day biting the face and chewing the legs of his Sophie the Giraffe teether, but it still doesn't seem to do the trick.  So, while trying to find something to help soothe him, I stumbled across something that would also help me to look cute.  Teething Bling is this great jewelry that looks cool on Mom and is totally safe for baby to chew on - LOVE IT.  I just got mine yesterday in a beautiful peridot color and Neil loves it as well.  So while I can't do much more to help him feel better, at least he likes to chew on my necklace while snuggling up to me.

And to round out the week, I was christened with my first early school pick up due to puke AND my first mid-night puking clean up.  Now I really feel like a Mom.

Happy Week!

I'll write soon, I promise!

I know I need to write about all that has been going on this week, and I promise I'll get something up today!

What a weekend!

Well, it's been a big weekend here in the Kaji house. Every weekend is a big weekend for us, but this one in particular had a lot going on.

Neil tried rice cereal for the first time. It seems like he was fan. But really Tyler (the dog) was a bigger fan. He knows that there will be more food coming his way as Neil starts to have more than just breast milk - this was just the beginning for him.

We also went and spent some time with our friends Auntie Claire, Uncle Chad and their super smiley happy boy, Jack. The kids had a blast playing together and we had a great time sipping wine and catching up. It was a lovely Saturday night (we were home by 8:30p).

Another big thing this weekend was that we received a visit from the "tothi fairy" a.k.a pacifier fairy. It was time for us to make a move and permanently remove the pacifier from Priya's mouth, but we needed a story to go along with it. So, we had Priya put the pacifier in an envelope on Friday morning and told her the fairy would be coming that day to pick it up and take it to a new baby who needed it. Well, the fairy came, took the pacifier, left Priya a note on her chalk board and new Minnie Mouse DVD. Priya has done great so far. And when she does ask for her pacifier we remind her that the fairy came, took the pacifier and left her presents. Then she says "oh yeah mommy, presents..." and puts her head down and goes to sleep. Ah, the power of a Minnie Mouse DVD.

Priya and I closed out the weekend by going to a Milkshake concert. I won't bore you with the details, although we did have a great time. I will say it was like going to a grown up concert but with 2 to 6 year olds who know all the words, dances, and special what nots to do at a concert (if you have ever gone to a Guster show, you know what I mean).

And here it is Sunday night...wow, what a weekend!

Cookies!

As far as I'm concerned, there is never a bad or wrong time to bake cookies. Raj, my husband would agree - I love to bake and if I could bake every day, and not eat everything I made, I would.

Well, tonight I baked! I'm meeting some fellow moms tomorrow for a playgroup and we are having a Valentine's Day Cookie Swap - LOVE IT!

Here they are baking in the oven...

And here are the finished cookies

Did you notice that there are some cookies missing? Ask Raj where they are :-).
